NHS logoNational Honor Society is an organization established to recognize outstanding high school students. More than just an honor roll, NHS serves to honor those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Character.



Announcements and Volunteering Opportunities

  • Meeting for members: Sept 15, Oct 20, Nov 10, Dec 8, Jan 12, Feb 9, Mar 8, Apr 12, May 10, June 7 

  • Tutoring:  NHS offers free tutoring for GHS students.  Please fill out the Google Form  or see Ms. Petroff or Ms. Davis for a paper copy.  You must be logged in to your GHS google account for the form. 

  • Important dates: 20 hours due by End of 1st quarter, 20 hours due by end of 3rd quarter.   At least 3 of the total 40 hours must be through NHS service projects.

  • We have set up a Remind account for NHS-2017 to receive messages via text, text @4fddd  to 81010. 
  • NHS often uses www.signupgenius.com for volunteer sign ups.  You can search for events by searching using Ms. Petroff's email address: petroffc@guilderlandschools.net or clicking the direct link below.

  • All members need to sign off that they have read and understand the Board of Education Policy on Student Organizations, 5210-R (pdf).   

  • Copies of the new By-Laws and Selection Process can be found on by clicking on the links.

  • Students with questions should speak with one of the advisors, Ms. Petroff (petroffc@guilderlandschools.net)  or Ms. Davis  (davism@guilderlandschools.net) before school or during activity period in room 305/room 6.  

    • Brooks BarBQue Thank you for your support!  We raised over $200 for the Joan Nicole Prince Home.

    • Interested in being a part of NHS?  Start accumulating your service hours now.  A great way to earn hours is through NHS Peer Tutoring.  Tutors are needed in all subject areas, especially math and science.  Forms are available here.

    • Tutoring- NHS offers free tutoring during the school day.  Forms are available here. We are in need of tutors in most subject areas. This is a great way to earn community service hours. You do not have to be a member to tutor. Stop by room 305 for a form.

    • Seniors- Hours are past due!  Check the agenda and SignUpGenius.com for opportunities!
