Altamont Elementary School News

School supply lists for the 2017-18 school year

July 2017—Altamont Elementary School supply lists for the 2017-18 school year are now available. Please note, when placement letters are sent home in August, teachers may include additional supplies.

Kindergarten
Large backpack with kindergartener’s name written on it. Please attach a luggage tag to the backpack with the address where your child will be going after school.
1 package fat washable markers (Crayola seems to work best)
1 package thin washable markers
One package of crayons
1 fat glue sticks
(2) 2-pocket folders with kindergartener’s name written in the top right corner (to bring to and from school throughout the year).
4 black dry erase markers
Smock (an old, large adult button up shirt works well)
Box of tissues
Small, quick and healthy snack each day
A pair of headphones with volume control (please label with your child’s name)
If you are a BOY, please bring in a container of baby wipes and a box of gallon size zip-lock bags
If you are a GIRL, please bring in a container of disinfectant wipes and a box of quart size zip-lock bags
In an effort to build community, markers, crayons and glue will go into classroom containers to be shared throughout the year. Also, please note: your placement letter may have additional teacher specific supplies.

Grade 1
2-3 packages of pencils (“Ticonderoga” and sharpened if possible)
Box of 24 crayons (please label)
Box of classic-colored markers (please label)
Scissors (please label)
Bottle of glue
6-8 large glue sticks
Pencil box for supplies (not oversized/able to fit in desks)
1 pocket folder (used as a “take home” folder)
Backpack (no wheels please – they're difficult to fit in lockers)
2 boxes of tissues
A smock to wear for art
A healthy, daily snack and drink
Headphones or earbuds
1 marble composition notebook (please label)
2 dry erase markers (any color)
$5 cash for a student journal
BOYS: Dixie cups (small 3 oz.) – GIRLS: 1 plastic container of disinfecting wipes
On the first day of school, please bring in your favorite book to share with the class. We may not be reading all of it, but you will show it to your classmates. Also, please note: your placement letter may have additional teacher specific supplies.

Grade 2
2 dozen #2 pre-sharpened pencils (Ticonderoga or USA Gold preferably) to be shared by the class
Box of crayons (no more than 24 count)
2 boxes of thin markers (Crayola 8 or 12 pack)
Colored pencils (8 or 12 Pack, pre-sharpened)
8 glue sticks
Scissors (labeled with your child’s name)
Supply box to hold crayons, colored pencils, etc.
1 plastic pocket folder (daily folder)
4 pocket folders (1 blue, 1 green, 1 red, 1 yellow)
2 large Pink Pearl erasers
2 marble notebooks
Box of Kleenex
Smock or old shirt for art class
Headphones (please find headphones that have a straight connector)
Please label the following: folders, smocks, scissors, and marble notebook. Also, please note: your placement letter may have additional teacher specific supplies.


Grade 3
Sturdy take home folder
1-inch white binder with clear front pocket
2 pocket folders (1 of each: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple)
2 marble composition notebooks – wide ruled
[Name labels for all the folders, notebooks and binder will be provided]
Pencils – 2 boxes (please get Ticonderoga, if possible)
Post-it notes (2 x 3 size)
3 glue sticks
[You don’t need to label pencils, post it notes and glue sticks because they will be shared as a class]
Colored pencils
Crayons
Pencil/crayon box for storage
Ear buds
Box of tissues
Smock or old shirt for art class
$6 for classroom newspaper. Please make checks payable to Altamont Elementary.

Grade 4
2 pocket folders (red, blue and yellow)
3-4 glue sticks
3 marble composition notebooks
2 boxes of tissues (to be shared with co-teachers) [THANKS in advance!]
4 boxes pre-sharpened Ticonderoga #2 pencils
4 separate erasers or package of erasers that fit on top of pencils
1 package of square 3x3 Post-it notes
1 highlighter
1 package of loose-leaf lined paper (with 3 holes along left margin)
(1) 1 ½” 3-ring binder with clear pocket on outside cover (important)
1 sturdy take home folder with 3-hole punch to fit in larger binder
1 small box crayons and/or markers
1 box colored pencils
1 package of index cards
Scissors (full size)
Ruler (metric on one side)
Ear buds or headphones *Important as extra headphones are no longer available
Dry erase marker and sock (to hold the marker and be used as an eraser for dry erase boards)
Pencil box; nothing too big (*Ms. Martin’s class only)
Zippered binder pencil pouch (*Ms. Vogel’s class only)
