Guilderland High School curriculum

Guilderland High School curriculum provides a comprehensive program which is designed to prepare students for success whether their post-graduation plans are for continuing their education or for entering into the workforce immediately. Currently, 90% of graduating seniors go on to higher education.

Counselors, supervisors and teachers guide students in selecting courses where they will be both challenged and successful. Our teachers are committed to their disciplines, believe in their students, and are dedicated to their students' success.

It is a goal of the high school to provide every student with the opportunity to earn a diploma that reflects optimum achievement for that student. Students may strive to obtain a major in each of the academic areas as well as in music or art. In addition, options are also available in occupational education both at the high school and through the BOCES Vocational Technical Center.

When needed, Academic Intervention Services and additional student support are available through smaller class sizes, team teaching, remediation labs, peer tutoring and mentoring.

* Please note: Though the Curriculum Guide indicates certain courses had the possibility of earning college credits through Hudson Valley Community College, the high school administration has decided to postpone these credit offerings until the 2009-2010 academic year. The courses will still be offered next year, but students will not be able to earn college credits.

While all students will study at least the topics indicated in the documents above, there are also opportunities or students to choose other areas of study based on their interests and needs.

All curricula are aligned with the New York State learning standards.
