Guilderland Central School District Job openings

Fingerprinting

New York State has instituted a new law, requiring all persons seeking employment in a school district must be fingerprinted, have background checks and be issued a clearance by the State Education Department prior to starting work. New employees who have not completed this process in another school district must request a fingerprinting packet at the Guilderland Human Resources Office immediately upon returning all paperwork.

A fee of $99 is charge and must be forwarded in the form of a Certified Check or Money Order made payable to the “New York State Education Department.” (Please note that the district will pay the $99 processing fee for bus drivers that have been offered a position with the Guilderland School District. However, the drivers must work for the district at least one year. Otherwise, the district will reclaim the fee in full, if necessary, by deducting it from the employee’s final pay.)

The fingerprinting process takes about three weeks to complete, and it is therefore important that prospective employees complete this process as soon as possible. At the present time, fingerprinting is available by appointment at the locations listed below.

Fingerprinting locations

(Please call ahead for an appointment)

  • Guilderland Police Station – 356-1980 (Only processes fingerprints on Tuesdays from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and Fridays from 3 to 4:30 p.m.)

  • Guilderland School District Transportation Department  – 861-6434 (ask for Cindy or Karen)

  • Brian Forte, Resource Officer, Guilderland High – 861-8591, Ext. 3020

  • Carl Duda, Resource Officer, Farnsworth Middle School – 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., Wednesdays.

Fingerprinting packets

Contact the Guilderland Human Resources Office, 456-6200, Ext. 3117, for a fingerprinting packet, which consists of two fingerprint cards, fingerprint instructions and a consent form. Also available online is the “Security Background Check” form, which must be filled out and turned in at the time that you return the fingerprint packet to the personnel office.

After you have been fingerprinted, please return all completed information to the personnel office. It is important that you do not seal the envelope included in the packet, since a school district check needs to be included.
