FMS Student Wins at National Science Competition

Congratulations to FMS student Kayla Thorton, grade 8, who received $300 for second place at the National Science Competition at Rochester Institute of Technology. Students from as far away as California participated. Kayla received high praise from judges as well as spectators. Kayla’s project was on “Shampoo with formaldehyde and/or sodium laurel sulfate and its effect on hair”. This was her year-long science research project for science teacher Jenn Ford. Special thanks to teaching assistant Kathy Strollo for her many hours of help with Kayla.
