FMS SS Teacher to Edit New York State Council for the Social Studies Newsletter

Charlie Gifford, social studies teacher leader at Farnsworth Middle School, has been named as editor of Time and Place, the state newsletter of the New York State Council on the Social Studies. Charlie has been newsletter editor for the Capital District Council on the Social Studies where she also serves on the Board of Directors. Congratulations to Charlie for her dedication to professional development in social studies.

Capital Region Summer Grant Winners

Congratulations to the following staff members who have been selected as winners of the Greater Capital District Region Teacher Center Summer 2007 Grants. Thirteen grants were awarded to 24 educators in 10 school districts. Kim Harmon and Laurie Haecker of Pine Bush Elementary received a grant for their project, “Meeting the NETS (National Educational Technology Standards) with the Internet.”

FMS Language Arts Teacher 2007 NYSEC Educator of Excellence

Congratulations to the FMS language arts teacher, Molly Fanning, who has been chosen as a 2007 Educator of Excellence by the Executive Board of the New York State English Council. She will receive her award on November 15th at the state conference in New York City.

Wind Ensemble to Perform at NYSSBA Conference

Congratulations to the Guilderland High School Wind Ensemble and director, Kathy Ehlinger who have been selected to perform at the New York State School Boards Association conference on October 28th in New York City.
