Each year, the Guilderland Central School
District awards several scholarships to deserving high
school seniors based on criteria such as academic area of
interest, athletic area of interest, and community service.
All scholarships are funded through donations from alumni
and community members, and are distributed at the discretion
of the high school scholarship committee.
If you would like to donate to any of the
scholarships listed below, please send a check payable to:

Gregory J. Aidala Scholarship |
Recognizes two seniors (one girl, one boy) who have met the
following criteria:
• Maintained an 85 average in high school (at the
end of junior year)
• Participated in service learning activities,
either in the Guilderland community and/or at
Guilderland High School
• Anticipate attending a two or four year college to
pursue a major in education (pre-school through
grade 12).
In order to be considered for this award, the
student must submit a short essay to the selection
committee highlighting what current or former
teacher influenced his/her plans to become a teacher
and why. |

Dalton Bambury Memorial Scholarship |
To a senior who has
demonstrated strength of character, commitment to
the community, love of humanity and will be entering
a helping profession. |

Joseph Cohen, Jr. Memorial Music Award |
To a graduating
senior who has demonstrated love and aptitude toward
music and plans on attending a four year college. |
|
Joan M. Coons Award |
To a student going
into the world of work who has demonstrated
enthusiasm for life and learning. |
|
Nancy E. Davis Memorial Scholarship |
Presented to two high
school seniors who are passionate about art and
visually inventive. |
|
Thomas P. Farrelly Memorial Scholarship |
To recognize a senior
on the Girls Varsity Softball team that is involved
in school activities and community service,
possesses athletic ability and has a positive
attitude. |
|
Sidney M. A. Ginsburg Memorial Scholarship |
Awarded to a
graduating senior who has demonstrated outstanding
potential in the arts and performed significant
community service. |
|
Lesley E. Grapka Psychology Scholarship |
To a graduating
senior who plans to major in the field of
psychology. Presented to a student who exhibits
compassion for persons in need as well as a strong
work ethic and commitment to volunteerism. |
|
Eric Grimstead Memorial Scholarship |
To a senior who has
provided leadership in the Focus Program and intends
to pursue a career in counseling or human services. |
|
Edward & Sheryll Krey Memorial Award |
To a senior who shows
promise in the filed of mathematics and who intends
to major in mathematics in a four year institution. |
|
Mary J. Mazzone Sportsmanship Award |
To a varsity girls
basketball player who has contributed to the GCHS
basketball program, demonstrates leadership,
sportsmanship, character, and is involved in school
activities and community service. |
|
Joan H. Murphy memorial scholarship |
This scholarship
would recognize a senior who will be pursuing a
career in education or an education-related
discipline. |
|
Micki Nevett Literature Scholarship |
This award will be
given to a graduating senior who has demonstrated a
love of literature, plans to attend an institution
of higher learning, and is an alumnus of Westmere
Elementary School. |
|
Edward Sayer Scholarship |
To one senior boy and
one senior girl from the Guilderland varsity swim
team who intents to continue their education and
exhibits compassion for their team mates and works
for the good of the team. Should also be involved in
their community as a positive role model. |

Faith Schullstrom Award |
To support further
learning for a graduating senior who demonstrates,
through daily actions and interactions, the habits
of mind and character that suggest that this
person’s future will be characterized by civic
leadership and service to others. |
|
Kathy Seaton Award |
Awarded to two
students who express interest in attending certified
schools for either Associate or Baccalaureate
Degrees who have demonstrated a high level of
academic success. |
|
Van Wormer Award |
To a senior who has
accumulated the most points during the year in
debate competition. |
|
Jenny Wasson Award |
To two deserving
Altamont area graduates to aid in the cost of higher
education. |
|
Dale Westcott Memorial Scholarship |
This scholarship
recognizes a senior who is planning on becoming a
math or science teacher and portrays a love for
learning. |
|
John Williams Award |
Presented to a senior
who has displayed outstanding achievement in
mathematics. |
|
Henry Weiss Memorial Award |
To be awarded to a
graduating senior pursuing higher education who has
demonstrated outstanding ability in mathematics and
exceptional personal character. |
|
Dr. Sydna Stern Weiss Memorial Award |
To be awarded to a
graduating senior pursuing higher education who has
demonstrated outstanding ability in a foreign
language and exceptional personal character. |
|
Stacy Zounes Scholarship |
To a deserving
graduating senior with some involvement in physical
fitness to further the student's educational
pursuits. |
|
F Zwicklbauer Memorial Soccer Scholarship |
To a senior boy and
girl who contributed to the GCHS Soccer Program, has
intentions of attending a four year college and has
demonstrated leadership, sportsmanship, character
and scholarship. |
