There are very fun games here that cover all kinds of math concepts from basic operations to naming graph coordinates to writing numbers correctly on a check. Each game is leveled for Easy, Medium, Hard, or Super Brain challenges. This is a great alternative to traditional worksheets!

Math for Kids

Ask Dr. Math is a question and answer service for math students and their teachers. A searchable archive is available by level and topic, as well as summaries of Frequently Asked Questions (the Dr. Math FAQ).

This site is useful for reinforcement of basic math skills. The self-checking feature provides immediate feedback. You can even print out worksheets or make your own flashcards.

Count On

This site is packed with math games, puzzles, and information. Numberland provides poems and facts about numbers and has special appeal for young learners. Also most appropriate for young learners are some great mathematical e-zines in the Maths MagNet section. The Matrix is a virtual museum of exhibits related to math and technology.

Harcourt maintains this site to support its K-8 math series. The games provide practice in math skills by grade level and topic. Even kindergarten students can practice counting to 100, differentiating between shapes, and doing other interactive games. (You may want to plug in the headphones though!)

AAA Math

Basic skills, activities, and challenge games for K-8 students can be found on this site. You can explore by grade level or math topic. The clear and consistent structure of each section makes this an easy site to navigate.

The Maths File Game Show

Your hosts, Hypatia and Pythagoras, invite you to spin the wheel and play a math-related game. The games require Shockwave and take a bit of time to load, but the combination of humor and higher-level math practice should appeal to many intermediate grade students and teachers.

Definitely not for the average math student, this site provides “Mathematics Challenges for Families,” intended for middle-school students to tackle at home with their families. Each challenge features: a description of the important math involved, a note on where the math is used in the real world, a hint to get started, complete solutions, and more.

This site provides a guide to search engines, search strategies, the basics of how search engines work, and ratings of existing search engines. You can pick up useful tips and even search a variety of search engines through this site.
