2009-10 Budget

Bus and equipment proposition

Voters approve $791,830 bus & equipment proposition
A separate proposition on the May 19, 2009 ballot sought voter approval to purchase nine new buses and one maintenance plow truck at a total cost of $791,830. Approximately 60% of the bus purchase would be returned to the district in the form of future state aid, offsetting the local taxpayer share of the proposition by $453,498.

Approval of this proposition allows the district to replace school buses that have logged between 115,000 and 150,000 miles over the past 10 years. The new maintenance truck will replace a 12-year-old model that is in need of significant and costly repairs.

The entire cost of the vehicle purchases will be bonded and paid back over a five-year period. The tax impact of this borrowing will not take effect until the 2010-11 school year.
