Chinese delegation to visit Guilderland
High School to welcome visitors from Tianjin High School No. 41
Jan. 10, 2012—On Wednesday, January 18, Guilderland High
School will welcome a group of students and administrators from an elite
school in Tianjin, China.
The delegation from Tianjin High School No. 41, a Tech Valley High School
sister school, will arrive in the Capital Region on Jan. 16 and depart early
Jan. 20. During their stay, the 29 students and eight administrators will
visit several area school districts—including Guilderland—as well as other
local attractions.
Their tour of Guilderland High School is set to begin at 1:15 p.m. The
delegation will visit multiple classrooms, observing lessons and interacting
with students and school staff to learn more about American curriculum,
instructional models, scheduling, and school structures in general. The
group will then participate in a school “Q&A” session from 2:30 to 3:15 pm.
in the high school LGI.
“It is a great honor to welcome Tianjin High School No. 41 to Guilderland,”
said Assistant Superintendent for Instruction Dr. Demian Singleton. “We very
much look forward to meeting with the delegation and are excited to both
share with and learn from these special guests.”
The visit is the latest exchange between educators from China and the Tech
Valley Region of the United States. In November, a delegation of teachers,
administrators and others from several area schools traveled to China to
visit a dozen Chinese schools, including Tianjin High School No. 41.
Additionally, Tech Valley High School has hosted a teacher from Tianjin High
School 41 since September.
