GCSD athletic department to
begin "tweeting" this fall
August 9, 2011—This fall, Guilderland fans will now be able to follow their favorite varsity athletic teams through the fall Section II playoffs on Twitter. Scores and highlights will be posted on the “GoDutchAthletix” Twitter account and sent to its “followers.”
What is Twitter?
Twitter is a free service that lets you keep in touch with people through
the exchange of quick, frequent answers to one simple question: What are you
doing? Twitter only allows posts under 140 characters in length.
Following someone on Twitter simply means receiving their Twitter updates or “tweets.” When you follow someone, every time they post a new message, it will appear on your Twitter home page. New messages are added to your home page as people post them, so you always get the updates in real time. You can also get updates from your phone.
If you want to follow the excitement of Guilderland’s teams from the beginning of the season through the Section II playoffs on Twitter, go to http://twitter.com/GoDutchAthletix. Once on Twitter, you can choose to create your own account which will enable you to automatically receive updates.
GoDutchAthletix “followers” are reminded to be respectful and show good sportsmanship. If “followers” post inappropriate messages, they will be blocked from receiving further tweets. We would ask all followers to comply with the GCSD student and athletic codes of conduct as well as the Board of Education Policies and Procedures.
