We need to hear from you!
Third in a series of community conversations set for February 5

Jan. 25, 2013—Since late November, more than 100 school community members have spent time learning about the many issues currently facing our school district as participants in our community conversation events. From the fiscal pressures of declining state aid and increased costs to the implementation of mandates and the continuation of the state's tax levy limit cap, attendees have raised excellent questions and provided useful feedback for district leaders regarding many of our toughest challenges. Visit the School Budget News home page to learn more about these events

However, with just over two months to go until the Board of Education is scheduled to adopt a budget for the upcoming school year, there is still much more work to be done. As the district struggles with the difficult and important choices ahead, we need to hear from you!

Please plan to join us on Tuesday, February 5, 2013 for our third community conversation. The event, which is open to all district residents and school community members, will be held from 7 to 9:30 p.m. in the Guilderland High School LGI and will feature a brief presentation on the district's budget development process to date followed by small group work sessions related to a list of potential changes for the upcoming school year.

More specifically, attendees will have the opportunity to participate in a World Cafe exercise, rotating through six different budget "stations" to meet with school leaders and ask direct questions regarding proposed changes in the various topic areas. At the end of the evening, community members will also have the chance to share their questions, comments, or concerns with the larger audience during a brief  “town hall” style reporting out session.

We hope that you will be able to join us for this important meeting about the future of our schools. If you plan to attend, kindly R.S.V.P. either by phone at 456-6200, ext. 3102 or via e-mail:
