GCSD students selected to move on to National History Day finals in College Park, MD

April 30, 2013—Congratulations to all of the Guilderland Central School District middle and high school students who competed in the state level of National History Day on April 29 in Cooperstown. Award winners include:

8th grader Ashley Visker, who earned first place for her documentary on Polio Vaccines;

11th grader Michelle Kang, who earned second place for her historical research paper on the New Deal;

6th grader Nicole Chiang, who earned third place for her website on Robert Goddard; and

8th grader Conor Quinn, who earned a second place special award in Maritime History for his documentary on the Cuban Missile Crisis.

 

Kudos also to the other GCSD students who participated in the competition: High school students Shannan Gerety, Sarah Jones, Sean Quinn, Rachel Wilson, Gloria Zhao, and Michael Zhu as well as middle school students Daniel Bemis, James Gu, Kevin Huang, Henry Li, Priyan Pathirana, Sid Shamshabad, Katherine Wallace, Edward Yu, and Daniel Zhu.

All first and second place winners will now move on to the National History Day finals in College Park, MD from June 9-13, 2913. Best of luck to all of the students moving ahead in the competition!
