Two Guilderland teachers recognized as Nationally Board Certified Teachers

Dec. 12, 2012—Congratulations to Beth Ray, first grade teacher at Westmere and Annette Sebuyira, Guilderland High School science teacher, who successfully passed all parts of the certification process and are now Nationally Board Certified Teachers (NBCT). Sebuyira, who is also a Syracuse University Project Advance (SUPA) instructor at the high school, was recognized for this prestigious honor by Syracuse University. Read the release

The mission of the National Board is to advance student learning and achievement by establishing the definitive standards and systems for certifying accomplished educators, providing programs and advocating policies that support excellence in teaching and leading, and engaging National Board Certified Teachers and leaders in that process. The National Board seeks to elevate the status, voice, and role or accomplished teachers in shaping a true profession.

The application process to become Nationally Board Certified is rigorously, and selection is highly prestigious. Since 1987, more than 100,000 teachers have achieved National Board Certification across the United States.
