Honoring National Youth Art Month and the Visual Arts!
GCSD students featured in K-8 Empire State Plaza Art Collection Exhibition

March 5, 2014—The Capital Area Art Supervisors (CAAS) group and New York State Art Teacher’s Association (NYSATA), in cooperation with the NYS Office of General Services, proudly presents the 2014 K-8 Empire State Plaza Art Collection Exhibition, to be held March 1 - 16, 2014 on the South Concourse of the plaza. This year's exhibit is representative of 600+ works from 12 capital region school districts. The Guilderland Central School District art department is pleased to announce that it has submitted 125 pieces of student artwork to the exhibit. This event is one of a kind as it is the only Capital Region exhibition for K-8 students. It is an opportunity for students to showcase how their art was inspired by artwork from the Empire State Plaza Permanent Collection. This exhibit is a demonstration of how schools are linking with the community, and the art department is delighted to be able to take the exhibition out of the Empire State Plaza and bring it into our classrooms.

Community members are invited to a reception for all participating students and their families on Wednesday March 5 beginning at 3:00 pm on the South Concourse.
