27 Guilderland musicians selected for Suburban Council Music Festival

Dec. 26, 2013—The Guilderland Central School District Music Department is pleased to announce that 27 student musicians were recently selected to participate in the Suburban Scholastic Council Music Festival, to be held at Columbia High School on Saturday, January 25, 2014. Over three hundred talented music students were selected from the thirteen Suburban Council schools. The GCSD groups performing this year include a High School Band, Chorus and Orchestra as well as a Middle School Jazz Band.

Performing in the Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Dr. Rachel Lauber (Eastman School of Music) will be: Allegra Wu, flute; Angelo Amore, clarinet; Andrew Dame and Sam Diedrich, trumpet; Matthew Darby, violin; Rafi Nizam, viola; and Nalia Brown, cello.

Performing in the Concert Band under the direction of Dr. Brian Doyle (Crane School of Music) will be: Kate Cotton and Bhagyashree Subramaniam, flute; Conor Grocki, oboe; Stephen Perez and Haley Sirota, clarinet; Michelina Scotti, bassoon; Therese Giordano, horn; Jason Sindoni, tuba; and Jack Buttridge, percussion.

Vocalists selected to sing with the Concert Choir under the direction of Mr. Norman Zogiab (Hamburg High School) include: Elise Burby, Kiera DeCotes, Alexis Donnelly, Mary Grace Graves, Avery Heaney, Courtland Ingraham, Winsor Jewell, Joshua Kahn, Derek Petti, Markis Poulen, and Eliana Rowe.

Congratulations to all these fine young musicians and their teachers: Susan Curro, Kathleen Ehlinger, Starr Norman, Lee Russo, and Rae Jean Teeter.
