Residents encouraged to contact elected officials ahead of state budget adoption

March 26, 2015—With less than a week to go before a state budget is expected to be adopted, school leaders and concerned citizens throughout the state are continuing to advocate for public schools by contacting Governor Cuomo and their local elected officials.

Facing numerous education reform items still on the table, as well as a great deal of uncertainty about projected school aid amounts, Guilderland Central School District is encouraging district residents to let their voices be heard by reaching out to Albany. Visit the advocacy webpage on the district website to view contact information for our elected officials, read a sample advocacy letter from the Guilderland Teachers Association, and download an advocacy toolkit.

The time for change is now. The voices of school leaders and lobbyists for state-level education groups simply are not enough. Elected officials need to hear from you, their constituents. They need to hear from the people that are most directly impacted by their decisions—the students, parents, employees, residents, community groups and business owners of Guilderland.
