Guilderland part of consortium that wins $348,311 leadership grant

Oct. 23, 2014—A consortium of Capital Region BOCES, Herkimer-Fulton-Hamilton-Otsego BOCES and 17 school districts — including Guilderland — have won a $348,311 grant from the New York State Education Department to enhance and expand the expertise of area principals.

The “Strengthening Teacher and Leader Effectiveness Dissemination Grant: Principal Leadership” (STLE-D) will fund support for up to 45 principals from the consortium districts, including mentors, trainings and participation in a Professional Learning Community with other principals. Programming is slated for November 2014 to June 2015.

Other districts in the STLE-D consortium include: Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake, Cohoes, Duanesburg, Middleburgh, Mohonasen, Niskayuna, Schalmont, Scotia-Glenville, Shenendehowa, South Colonie, Voorheesville, Herkimer, Central Valley, Owen D. Young, Richfield Springs and Mount Markham. Capital Region BOCES’ Educational Support Services staff will lead the program.

The grant was one of 21 awarded state-wide; the application was written by Capital Region BOCES’ Grants & Development Service.
