Gingerbread house project 2005

An annual holiday tradition:
The gingerbread house

Earlier this week, more than 40 sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students joined FMS Foreign Language teacher Patty Hill in constructing German-style gingerbread houses as part of an annual holiday tradition at the school. Students worked through Activity Period to decorate their structures using icing, pretzels, and assorted candies. The gingerbread house is an American extension of the German traditions of decorating gingerbread and the "Hexenhaus" in the famous Grimm Fairy Tale, Hansel and Gretel.
