Study Skills
Committee
Meeting Minutes
10/21/05 8 a.m.
Present: Judy
Carnavos, Patty Hill, Lauren Linkowski, Sandy Stedge, Brigid
Shogan, Nicole Kozlowski, Mary Ann Libertucci
Balance in account was given. No money is expected from
schoolpop.com since they have filed for bankruptcy.
There are still a few A-pad wall charts left. There are
also a few book covers. See Charlie in Room 456 if you ’d
like these items.
Study Skills section has a few new titles. Latest
additions are 4 sets of 30 booklets entitled "How
to get good grades".
They are available for sign out in the Learning Center.
Great idea for home base. Sections include goal setting, how
to manage your time, how to study, etc.
We will be continuing our support for teachers who value
organizational skills and promote this in their classrooms.
In all house offices, there are application forms. Teachers
may request up to $15 for organizational needs (i.e. colored
paper, filing systems, folders, etc). Last year we approved
5 requests. Consider making the request. Lauren Linkowski
will collect the forms (her mailbox is in Tawasentha).
Patty Hill has offered to update our webpage after
January. We are hoping to find someone to do this in the
meantime. If anyone has been trained in Frontpage
and would be willing to do 2-3 updates between now and
January, let Judy Carnavos know.
The Paper Posse is back! Brigid Shogan and Sandy
Stedge have offered to adopt a 6th grade team. They will set
up time during activity periods to organize lockers for
students in need of help.
We will be starting a recognition program this year
showcasing organized students. You will hear more about this
soon.
We are looking at having our own school supplies sale in
August. This will be a huge endeavor for our committee
(especially the first year). It was agreed that this is
something worthwhile to pursue since the on-line school
supply company has folded. We are hoping to elicit parent
support for this and additional teacher support, as well.
Next
meeting:
Friday, Dec.2 at 8 am in the Learning Center.
Please consider joining this committee.
Hope to see you there! |
