Math Counts team takes home first-place prize at Regional Competition
Feb. 6, 2012—Congratulations
to the FMS Math Counts team, who came in first place at
the Regional Competition held Feb. 4 at General Electric. Team members
included Bill Dong, Will Wang, Michael Zhu, and Jeremy Collison. They will
now move on to compete in the State contest, to be held March 17 at
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
All four team members also individually scored in the top 12 out of 135
students and 19 schools: Bill Dong ranked 2nd, Will Wang 5th, Michael Zhu
10th, and Jeremy Collison 11th. During the unofficial Countdown Round, which
is done as an extra challenge at the end of the competition, both Bill and
Will were in the top four of the 12 students.
Kudos also to the FMS Math Counts team alternates: Eric Pasquini, Edward Yu,
Mohona Sengupta and Catherine Seita. Edward Yu scored 18th and will be the
alternate who will go with the team to the State contest. Eric Pasquini also
came in 25th out of 135 students.
