FMS students equipped with 'Bully Buttons' after Sept. 28 'Sweethearts & Heroes’ visit

UPDATED Oct. 4, 2017The Sweethearts and Heroes motivational speakers Tom Murphy and Rick Yarosh visited FMS on Sept. 28 to educate students and staff about the impact bullying has on our schools. Tom and Rick each shared a powerful message and an action plan, shedding light on how everyone has the potential to be someone’s "sweetheart" and the power to be a "hero."

Through knowledge and communication, the facilitators of the "Sweethearts and Heroes," program brought their important anti-bullying message to the FMS community -- not only to help those who may be bullied, but to help empower bystanders to make a difference.

From their website: The crux of the Sweethearts and Heroes presentation are five specific “Bully Buttons” that combine to form a call to action against bullying. At many Sweethearts and Heroes presentations, a retired sergeant with the U.S. Army injured in Iraq with burns over most of his body, gives a message about overcoming adversity and turning a negative situation into a positive one.
