Ten FMS students attain national recognition on 2017 National Spanish Exam

May 2, 2017Congratulations to Ms. Dugan's 8th grade Spanish students that took the 2017 National Spanish Examination and attained national recognition for excellent performance. The 10 participants earned a total of one bronze medal and seven honorable mentions.

“Attaining a medal or honorable mention for any student on the National Spanish Examinations is very prestigious,” said Kevin Cessna-Buscemi, National Director of the Exams, “because the exams are the largest of their kind in the U.S. with over 157,000 students participating in 2017.”

The National Spanish Examinations are administered each year in grades 6 through 12, and are sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese. The exams were administered this past April and evaluated vocabulary and grammar knowledge as well as listening and reading/comprehension skills in Spanish.
