Water testing results

UPDATED Oct. 26, 2017—In September 2016 Governor Cuomo signed a new law that requires public schools in New York to test all water outlets currently or potentially used for drinking or cooking purposes for lead levels.

On Oct. 19, the district received the results from a resampling of 14 water sources that previously exceeded the action level (15 parts per billion). The results are taken from tests after remediation efforts were made. Those efforts consisted primarily of replacing faucets, faucet lines, shut-off valves, or the installation of filters. Three of the remediated results came back with readings above the action level:

Two steaming kettles (a piece of kitchen equipment that cooks large quantities of food using steam heat), which have not been used during the 2017-18 school year
One faculty room sink

These outlets continue to reamin offline or be labeled for handwashing only.
