FMS to show documentary "Screenagers"

December 21, 2017 GCSD parents and students are invited to attend a free viewing of the documentary “Screenagers” on Tuesday, January 30 at 7:00 p.m. in the FMS cafetorium. The event is being co-sponsored by the Guilderland Public Library.

The film focuses on how the digital age impacts children by highlighting the struggles over social media, video games, academics, and internet addiction. It also includes strategies for how to empower students to better navigate the digital world and how families can minimize the harmful effects and find balance.

Immediately following the film, a panel of high school and middle school students and educators will co-facilitate a conversation regarding the film’s themes and discuss data from a survey filled out by middle school students.

While the film is generally aimed at parents and middle and high school students, students are also welcome to attend with their parents.

We invite middle school students to fill out this brief “Growing Up in a Digital World” survey. The data collected will be used for the upcoming panel’s discussions. A link to the survey can be found here.

This event is free. An RSVP is not needed. If you have questions about the event, please contact 518-456-6200 ext. 3119.
