Study skills

To understand difficult lessons, I can...

Imagine you are in a Science Lab and you need to plant some seeds:

Say what I hear ("I hear you reminding us to use well-drained soil.")

Tell the part I do understand ("I understand the part about well-drained soil, but I don't understand why.")

Ask for more information ("Could you please tell me more about what you mean by 'well-drained.' How do we drain it?")

Check it out ("Let me see if I understand. The soil needs to be well-drained, right?")

Think out loud with the teacher or your partner ("Could I think out loud with you? We need well-drained soil so our flowers will grow...")

Ask the teacher to repeat using different words ("Could you say that a different way?")

Ask the teacher to repeat more slowly ("Please say it again more slowly.")

Ask the teacher to break the explanation into parts ("Could you please tell me the first part again?")

Ask for examples

Ask for a demonstration ("Could you show me how to do it?")

Seek out a study buddy
