Guilderland mourns the loss of Anthony and Eddy Chen

The district is now able to release the names of the two young Guilderland Elementary School students who were among the victims of Wednesday’s tragic crime on Western Avenue in the Town of Guilderland. Fifth grader Anthony Chen and his younger brother, Eddy, a second grader, were both lost along with their parents, Hai Yan Li and Jin Feng Chen. Learn more

Student information updates

On Friday, September 12, 2014, a letter was distributed to all parents via the district's SchoolTool Parent & Student Portal highlighting some important details regarding student information updates in the new school year. In particular, the letter addresses changes to how report cards and Individual Student Reports (ISRs) for grade 3-8 assessments will be available to parents as well as information about verifying and updating your child's health information. GES fifth grade science classes partner with University at Albany

On Friday, September 12, the entire fifth grade class at Guilderland Elementary School participated in a variety of outdoor activities focused on using the systems of the human body. The event served as a kick-off for a year-long initiative that includes a grant-based research project with members of the University at Albany Department of Educational Theory and Practice. District transitioning to paperless report cards in 2014-15

Beginning in the 2014-15 school year, Guilderland Central School District will be transitioning to a paperless report card system for all students, grades K-12. Report cards will no longer be sent or mailed home; instead, parents will be able to access and review their child’s report card online via the district’s SchoolTool Parent and Student Portal. Important immunization changes for students entering grades K-6

The NYS Department of Health and NYS Education Department recently issued immunization requirement changes starting with the 2014-2015 school year. A letter will be sent home to all parents of students in grades K-6 on April 22 explaining these changes. Parents can also read the letter here (PDF).
