Good fun for a great cause: GES holds 'Minute to Win It' games on May 4Photo of donations in boxes

May 4, 2017—On Thursday, May 4, GES staff got silly for a great cause. The "Minute to Win It" games were held in culmination of a month-long toy and supply drive for the Child Life Program, an initiative through Albany Medical Center's Bernard and Millie Duker Children's Hospital.

The games and toy/supply drive were thanks to the efforts of the GES Student Council. Students in grades 3-5 donated $1 as "admission" to come cheer their teachers on.

About the Child Life Program: On the pediatric floors of the Bernard and Millie Duker Children's Hospital, there are age-specific activity rooms run by the Child Life Program that have been assembled to help the pediatric patients take their minds off of their health issues. The supplies in the rooms are gathered only through donations. Members of the Student Council worked with the Child Life's group "Students Care for Kids" and collected over 600 toys and supplies for the activity rooms. The group also raised $350, which was used to purchase larger donations and 20 gift cards for families staying at the hospital.

The district would like to recognize the hard work of the GES Student Council and the group effort of the GES community to help the Child Life program!
