Life is like a birthday cake,

Warm and tasty on the outside,

Surrounded by a layer of frosting.

Once the sweet layer is eaten off,

Everything inside is exposed.

People are able to pick and chew on it,

Cut it and eat it all up.

There’s no way of staying protected,

Being cut up and pulled apart.

The lucky ones are like a fruitcake,

Hard to cut open and get inside.

No one will pick at them.

Everyone knows,

They’re sticky, stubborn, and hard to pick apart.
