A single pothole, they are round with smooth walls
In the bottom of each hole you will find round scouring stones.
Some of the potholes at this station can be 2-3 feet deep
Across the stream under the tree there is a small cave, can you spot it?
There it is!  Water is flowing out of the cave into the stream.  Most of the time there is more water coming out of the cave than coming down the stream.  That is not the case today.
With good water flow like this, you can see the small sediments (clay and silt) that is suspended in the water.  Even the very small particles scour out the potholes.
