Feb. 26: Five positive cases

Today the district learned of five new positive COVID-19 cases. Four cases were connected to Farnsworth Middle School with one requiring contact tracing by the school.  FMS Principal, Michael Laster is working with the Albany County Department of Health to determine who needs to quarantine and he and his team are contacting those individuals.

One case is associated with Pine Bush Elementary School.  Based on when the individual was last in school, no contact tracing by the school was necessary for this case.

This week we saw a bit of an up-tick in positive cases in our district.  I want to encourage everyone to continue to be vigilant in following the necessary health and safety protocols to keep one another safe.  As you know, that includes the proper wearing of masks, social distancing and frequent handwashing.  Although there is reason to hope that this pandemic will be behind us, we are clearly not out of the woods yet.

Thank you for your continued cooperation and support.

Dr. Marie Wiles
Superintendent of Schools
