Freshmen and New Student Letter

To the families of the Class of 2027 and all NEW students to GHS,

We are so excited to have you become part of Guilderland High School this September! I hope that you are enjoying your summer break and are looking forward to being part of Guilderland High School. We would like to provide you with some information about our “Welcome Week” at GHS. This week is a chance for you to come to the building, tour the school, meet upperclassmen and become more familiar with the high school. Our schedule of events is listed below.

Open House Tours – August 29 1:00-3:00 p.m. or August 30 4:00-6:00 p.m. Students can tour by themselves or with a student leader. You can come at any time during this block of time to tour the building. Schedules may not be available.

Virtual Informational Event – August 28 6:30-7:30 p.m. Families and students can join a Quick Insider’s Guide to GHS with a Q&A Panel. Virtual Informational Event Link.

The following week will be our Back to School Visit for ninth grade students and NEW tenth-twelfth grade students on September 6 from 8:05 – 11:00 a.m. Ninth grade students will participate in the Orientation program that will include an assembly to start the day. NEW tenth-twelfth grade students will have a meet and greet with some faculty to start the day and receive devices.

Following orientation and meet and greets, all students (ninth grade and NEW tenth-twelfth grade students) will have an opportunity to go to each of their classes and meet their teachers as they walk their schedules. Transportation will be  provided. Students will be picked up at their high school bus route location.  Information will be in eSchoolData once available. Students should be at their stop one hour after it is listed on transportation notice. (For example, if it states pick up at 6:25 a.m. for a regular school day, for the orientation day, your student will be waiting out at 7:25 a.m.).  Students will return home via school bus as well. This gives all new students (both ninth and NEW tenth-twelfth grade students) the opportunity to know what buses are theirs and what the routes are.
