GPD conducting training drills at GHS, Apr. 13-14

On Thursday and Friday, April 13 and 14, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m, the Guilderland Police Department will be conducting active shooter and training drills at Guilderland High School. While the drills are taking place, residents can expect to see increased police vehicles at GHS.

The drills are part of the Guilderland Police Department’s regular and on-going training, and have been scheduled for some time. The exercises are conducted to practice the tactical response of police officers and dispatchers. They will be participating in familiarization drills to learn about all aspects of the building.

Officers will be using blanks for the active shooter drill portion of the training, which will take place between 12:00 and 2:00 p.m. each day. No students will be allowed in the section of the building used for the active shooter drill during these times. All spring athletic teams and coaches have been made aware of the training; signs will be posted throughout GHS as well.
