The 420 members of the Guilderland High School Class of 2018 and their families gathered at The State University of New York at Albany’s SEFCU Arena on Saturday, June 23 for their commencement ceremony.

Speakers at the ceremony included Thomas Lutsic, GHS principal; Dr. Marie Wiles, superintendent; and Gary Gnirrep, GHS English teacher.  A number of student speakers, Layla Yousef, Silma Subah and Matthew Crieghton, also took the stage.

Senior class advisors Lisa Bedian and James Corona announced the roll call, while Dr. Wiles and Board of Education President Christine Hayes presented students with their diplomas.

The audience was treated to a number of musical interludes, including the “Star Spangled Banner,” by senior Natalie Russo,  and under the direction of Susan Curro, forty-one seniors joined their fellow orchestra members for one last time to perform the Prelude from “La Traviata.”

Congratulations to this year’s graduates and best of luck in the future!
