New cases to report
Today, March 22, the district learned of one individual associated with Farnsworth Middle School who tested positive for COVID-19. FMS Principal Michael Laster is working with Albany County Department of Health guidance to determine what school community members need to quarantine, and those individuals are being contacted.
New domestic travel guidelines
As you may know, Governor Cuomo announced that starting April 1, 2021, domestic travelers entering New York from another U.S. State or U.S. Territory are no longer required to quarantine. Restrictions on international travel remain in effect. All travelers must complete the NYS Travel Health Form (can be found on this page) and follow outlined procedures. The only information that is available at this time is the press announcement from Gov. Cuomo.
Since our April break is quickly approaching, we urge the school community to continue to be safe and follow all COVID safety guidelines during your time away from school.
Important budget development dates approaching
Tuesday, March 23: Draft budget proposal presented to the Board of Education
Tomorrow, March 23, during the GCSD Board of Education meeting, we will be sharing information about our planning for the 2021-22 school year and presenting a draft budget. You can watch the live stream on the GHS Media YouTube page starting at 7 p.m.
Wednesday, March 24 – Noon, Tuesday, March 30: Budget ThoughtExchange
After the draft budget presentation on March 23, we will launch a ThoughtExchange for the school community to ask questions about the 2021-22 proposed budget. An invitation to the exchange will be sent once it is launched.
Tuesday, March 30: Board of Education Budget Q&A Workshop
During the meeting, district administrators and the board will review the results of the ThoughtExchange launched from March 24-30, 2021, and address those questions.

Equity and Diversity Committee meeting on Wednesday
