Dear Families and Friends,
If you looked at the school calendar recently, you may have noticed that November is the only month this year where students will be in school for just one full week of school. When considering the reasons for these days away from school, you notice that parent conferences are scheduled to be held on Election Day, followed by our national observance of Veteran’s Day and the extended Thanksgiving holiday. While this month may not be ideal for continuity of instruction, it does encourage us to take a moment and reflect on expectations and progress indicators.
Parent conferences offer an opportunity for personal conversations with your child’s teacher about their progress in class to date. Academic expectations are reviewed, individual growth and development is emphasized and specific challenges are identified and discussed. It is important to remember that each child progresses at a different rate over the course of a single school year and certainly through their formal years of education. If you have any concerns about your child’s learning abilities at any point during the school year, please contact their teacher.
On Veteran’s Day, we will take a moment to honor the personal sacrifices of countless men and women who have served in our country’s military forces. It is important that we recognize our brethren who have chosen to defend our democratic values and national standards.
We conclude our special days in November as we celebrate our annual Thanksgiving holiday at the end of the month. On this special occasion, we are reminded to be appreciative and to offer thanks to those who have influenced us in a positive way throughout the past year. We hope that each of our students, staff and families enjoy a Happy Thanksgiving!

Picture Re-Take Day
Picture retakes have been scheduled for Friday, December 6, between 9:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. Students who were absent on picture day may pick up a picture order form in the main office. Students who are having their pictures retaken must bring their original picture packet with them to give to the photographer. Adirondack School Portraits has informed us that these pictures will be back in time for the holidays.

School will be closed on Wednesday, November 27, Thursday, November 28 and Friday, November 29. We would like to wish all of our families a restful and enjoyable Thanksgiving holiday.
