Dec. 10: Three New Positive COVID-19 Cases

Late yesterday and today the district learned about three positive COVID-19 cases.  There is one new case each at Lynnwood Elementary School, Pine Bush Elementary School, and Guilderland High School. All individuals who need to quarantine as a result of the new cases at LES and PBES have been contacted; the work on contacting individuals as a result of the case at GHS will continue into tomorrow.

Both Lynnwood and Pine Bush Elementary Schools continue to be open for in-person instruction. With respect to Guilderland High School, it is currently fully remote through Tuesday, Dec. 15, with students returning for hybrid instruction on Wednesday, Dec. 16. If anything should change at GHS, we will notify you.

Please know that we continue to work closely with the Albany County Department of Health and follow their guidance on maintaining a safe and healthy learning environment. We understand that it can be worrisome to continue to learn of new cases in our school district, but it is very important to point out that we have not had a single instance where the virus has spread at school. Our health and safety protocols are working! Even the Governor has said that the protocols that schools have put in place are “highly effective.

If you have any questions, please reach out to your building principal. Thank you!
