Five Guilderland High School students receive all-state music honors

A group of Guilderland High School students  being recognized for their musical talents with statewide honors.

Four students have been picked to perform as part of the prestigious NYSSMA Conference All-State Music groups:

  • John Giordano (senior), Bb Clarinet, Symphonic Band
  • Caroline Jameson (senior), Soprano 1, Mixed Chorus
  • Bohdan Kinal (junior), Alto Saxophone, Instrumental Jazz
  • Grace Wei (senior), Viola, Symphony Orchestra.

These talented students will spend four days in Rochester rehearsing with other gifted student musicians from across the state, with the event culminating in a concert at Kilbourn Hall at the Eastman School of Music.

Additionally, Maia Regan, senior, was chosen as an alternative for violin.

Each year, thousands of student musicians in New York State compete for an opportunity to be selected for the NYSSMA Conference All-State Music ensembles. Admission to these highly selective groups is based upon the score received the previous spring during the NYSSMA Solo Evaluation Festival, where each student performed before a certified adjudicator who carefully evaluated every aspect of their performance.

Congratulations to all the musicians, their teachers, and families on this outstanding accomplishment!
