Lynne Baumgartner

Lynne earned a BA in Psychology at John Carroll University and a Master’s in Community Psychology and Guidance Counseling from Sage Graduate School. She worked as an Admissions Counselor at Excelsior College and as a School Counselor at a junior/senior high school in Massachusetts prior to coming to Guilderland High School in 2006.  She enjoys camping, reading, watching the Red Sox and spending time with her husband and son.

Tom Dvorscak

Tom earned a B.S. in Marketing Management at Syracuse University and a Master’s in School Counseling from the College of Saint Rose.  Tom worked for seven years in the business world in management and sales prior to becoming a School Counselor at Tamarac High School.  He joined Guilderland High School in 1995.  Tom and his wife keep very busy with the activities of their two sons, Alex, a 2011 GHS graduate, Mike, a 2012 GHS graduate and their daughter Kate, GHS Class of 2018.

Candace Galarneau

Candace earned a B.A. in Psychology while attending the University of Tampa, Florida and a Master’s in School Counselor from Sage Graduate School.  She came to Guilderland High School as a Teaching Assistant in the Counseling Department in 1995 and became a School Counselor in 1997.  Outside of working she enjoys traveling, reading and spending time with her husband.

Ashley Kaplan

Ashley earned a B.A. in Sociology from The University of Vermont and a Master’s in Professional School Counseling from Sage Graduate School.  She has worked in several school districts throughout the Capital District before coming to Guilderland High School in 2017.  She has two young sons and enjoys cooking, traveling and spending time with her family and friends.

Amy Knapp

Amy earned her B.A. in Psychology from the University at Albany and a Master’s in School Counseling from SUNY Plattsburgh.  She worked as an Elementary Counselor and Junior High Counselor before coming to Guilderland High School in 1989.  Outside of working, she enjoys spending time with her husband and son Danny, GHS Class of 2022.

Karen Murphy

Karen earned her B.A. in General Studies from SUNY Oneonta and a Master’s in School Counseling from The College of Saint Rose.  She worked as a School Counselor at Mohonasen High School and Draper Middle School prior to coming to Guilderland High School in 1998.  She enjoys gardening, swimming, traveling and exercising and spending time with her husband and children, Kate, GHS Class of 2024 and Jack, GHS Class of 2026.

Rene Sheehan

René earned a B.A. in Psychology and Sociology from SUNY Geneseo and a Master’s in School Counseling from Syracuse University.  She has been a School Counselor at Guilderland High School since 1985.  She and her husband enjoy traveling, gardening and spending time with their two sons, Andrew, a 2008 GHS graduate and Kyle, a 2011 GHS graduate.

Kimberly Jourdin
Keyboard Specialist

Kim graduated from Bryant and Stratton College and worked for over 20 years as an Administrative Assistant and Front Office Specialist before coming to the GHS Counseling Department in 2016.  She enjoys the outdoors, reading, time with family and friends and raising her three daughters, Alyssa a 2016 GHS graduate, Gabriella, GHS Class of 2019 and Lilliana, GHS Class of 2025.

Grace Meglino
Senior Keyboard Specialist

Grace received an AAS in Secretarial Science from SUNY Farmingdale.  She worked as a Legal Secretary in NYC before taking time off to raise her children, John, GHS Class of 2002, Christine, GHS Class of 2005, and Jennifer, Class of 2007.  Grace returned to the workforce as a Teaching Assistant at Pine Bush Elementary School in 1995, then moved to Altamont Elementary School before joining the GHS Counseling Department in 2005.  She enjoys baking, traveling, swimming and most of all spending time with her family.

Lynn Scally

Lynn earned an Associates Degree from The Berkeley School in White Plains.  She worked at IBM Kingston for 17 years prior to working at Guilderland Elementary School as a Teaching Assistant beginning in 1999.  Lynn moved to the GHS Counseling Department in 2005.  Lynn enjoys biking, gardening, cooking and spending time with her husband and two daughters, Marissa, Class of 2009 and Kristin, Class of 2011, and their dog Cuffy.
