March 4: Four new cases

Please see a message from Superintendent Dr. Marie Wiles:

Dear GCSD Families,

I’m writing to provide a few updates. Please see below:

New cases to report

Between yesterday afternoon and today, the district learned of four individuals testing positive for COVID-19. Two cases are connected to Guilderland High School, one to Pine Bush Elementary, and the other to Lynnwood Elementary. Albany County Department of Health guidelines did not require contact tracing at the high school and Pine Bush. Lynnwood Elementary School interim principal, Barbara Goldstein, followed Department of Health guidance to determine who needed to quarantine, and those individuals have been contacted.

2021-22 budget development dates

At Tuesday’s Board of Education meeting, we reviewed budget development dates leading up to the 2021-22 school budget vote on May 18. There will be a special meeting of the Board of Education on Tuesday, March 23, at which Mr. Sanders and I will be presenting the first draft of the spending plan for the 2021-22 school year. The spending plan will be based on the assumption that we will return to everyday instruction for all students in the fall. Preliminary details of those plans will be shared. A Q&A will follow the presentation. Look for more details about the event as we get closer to the date.

If you didn’t have a chance to watch Tuesday’s board meeting, you can watch the recording on the GHS Media YouTube page.

Thank you for your continued partnership and support. Have a good evening!

Sincerely,

Dr. Marie Wiles
Superintendent of Schools
