Nichols, Zhang and Wilford named Dutchmen of the Week for Jan. 12

Each week, we highlight two student-athletes (modified, mod 9, frosh, JV or varsity level) for athletic accomplishments based on the following criteria:

  • The athlete should have made a significant impact on a contest within the nomination time frame, which is the week prior to selection; or
  • The athlete must have shown excellent leadership, sportsmanship, noticeable improvement or effort, community service, and/or other notable traits.

Congratulations to Lucas Nichols (JV Basketball) Alex Zhang and Juneau Wilford (Varsity Swimming) for earning DOW (Dutchmen of the Week) honors for the week of January 12th.

Lucas Nichols (JV Basketball)

Lucas led the JV Boys Basketball team to two wins last week, scoring 19 points against Shaker and 11 against Averill Park, contributing to an 11-2 record. Beyond scoring, he has been a consistent defender and rebounder. He always works hard in practice while finding ways to improve upon his game. Keep up the good work Lucas!

Alex Zhang and Juneau Wilford (Varsity Swimming)

Guilderland team captains Juneau and Alex stepped up big last week leading the way to a 3rd place finish at the Schenectady Invitational and a big win against Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake. With Juneau’s comeback in the 100 Fly and Alex’s season-best sprints in the 100 Free, they aren’t just leading by words—they’re leading by performance. Helping the Guilderland Boys Swim Team reach a 5-1 record under those circumstances is a massive achievement!
