ParentSquare information for community members
ParentSquare is a way to receive email news from the district and its schools.
The district began utilizing ParentSquare in the 2023-24 school year for emergency notifications, such as school closings/delays and emergency situations in schools and has since expanded its use to include school and district-level messages.

This Community Announcements section is provided as a service to parents for informational purposes only. Programs listed are not necessarily affiliated with nor endorsed by the Guilderland Central School District. Second Annual Celebration of Constitution Day
Altamont’s Orsini Park
Thursday, Sept. 17, 4:30-6 p.m.
Join in activities that invite the community to see how the Constitution embodies our nation’s continuing work toward liberty. Meet Benjamin Franklin, sign your name with a quill pen, learn about the democracy of the Haudenosaunee, and the struggle to expand civil rights for all the people.
Free refreshments and children’s books while supplies last, and copies of the United States Constitution for you to take home.
Service Day – Saturday, Sept. 19 from 11 a.m.-3 p.m.
Free community event hosted by the NYS Police at the NYS Police Academy 1220 Washington Ave. Building 24, Albany
- Live police, K-9, drone, aviation and underwater recovery demonstrations
- Police cars, motorcycle, fire trucks, armed vehicles and a helicopter
- Water rescue boat and safety seat installation station
- Food will be available for purchase

Albany County Barn to Bridge 5K & Fall Fest
Saturday, Oct. 3 from 11-3 p.m.
Fall Fest: Firefighters Memorial Park, 1510 New Scotland Rd, Slingerlands, NY.
Free w/ food trucks, live music, bounce house, face painter/balloon twister, various vendors and community performances!
5K: Albany County HH Rail Trial (Hilton Barn start line; Slingerlands Trailhead finish line). Registration is $10 and includes 5K, t-shirt and meal ticket.

Big Truck Day
GHS 12th Annual Big Truck Day is interactive fun on wheels for the whole family. Check out big trucks and the other cool vehicles and meet the people who drive them. Construction trucks, emergency vehicles, race car driver Jim Becker, and many more will be on site. (Sponsored by the Class of 2028)

- Cash Only Admission: $5 per person, $20 per family (up to 6 people)
Helderberg Outdoor Challenge
Discover the natural beauty, rich history and wildlife of the Helderbergs by visiting their parks, preserves, wildlife management areas and wetlands. After visiting the 22 sites listed on this page, you can register your trips online and earn a Helderberg Outdoor Challenge certificate. This certificate can be exchanged for a sticker at the Altamont Free Library.

Guilderland Central School District Scholarship Fund
Each year, the district awards several scholarships to deserving high school seniors based on criteria such as academic area of interest, athletic area of interest, and community service. Learn more about the scholarship fund.
