GCSD delivers free breakfast and lunch for students in need during school closure

GCSD 2020 Summer Meal Program

The Guilderland Central School District is offering free meals this summer to students in need. Meals will be available for delivery or pickup from July 2, 2020, through September 3, 2020.

Breakfast and lunch were available, free of charge, for students in need while GCSD schools were closed during the remainder of the 2019-20 school year. Meals were automatically delivered to all families who received free and reduced meals during the 2019-20 school year. 

Meal Delivery Details

  • Deliveries will take place on Mondays and Thursdays between the hours of 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.
  • 3 days’ worth of breakfast and lunch will be provided on each delivery day.
  • If your child has any dietary restrictions, please email Megan Beck at beckm@guilderlandschools.net.
  • If your child attends a childcare center within the boundaries of the Guilderland School District, that participates in CACFP, those children are eligible for meals provided by the school district.

Update: June 29, over 148,000 meals were supplied to students in need during the school closure.

On the final day of the regular school year meal delivery,  148,326 was the grand total of meals supplied to children in the GCSD.

“This was an incredible feat for everyone involved,” said Megan Beck, Food Services Director at GCSD, “We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the unwavering support we received during this time. Now on to summer meals!”

Update: June 11, over 125,000 meals have been distributed to the GCSD community since March 13.

Update: May 26, over 100,000 meals have been delivered to our families!

Update: May 7, 2020, over 75,000 meals have gone out to our students.
