COVID-19 information update from Albany County Department of Health

A message from Superintendent Wiles:

Dear GCSD Families,

Earlier today I was informed by the Albany County Department of Health Commissioner, Elizabeth Whalen, that Albany County has entered into the Centers for Disease Control’s categorization of high transmission for COVID-19.

We are sharing this information and the following recommendations to assist families; there has been no change to the Guilderland Central School District’s current COVID-19 guidance.

According to the CDC, when community transmission level is high it is recommended to:

  • Wear a mask when indoors and in public
  • Stay up to date with COVID-19 vaccines
  • Get tested if experiencing symptoms
  • Take additional precautions if at high risk for severe illness

For those interested, Albany County Department of Health is offering several COVID-19 vaccination opportunities in the coming weeks.

The health and safety of our students, staff and families continue to be a top priority at the Guilderland Central School District and we appreciate your partnership towards that goal. Should you have any questions regarding this change to Albany County’s COVID-19 community transmission level, please contact your healthcare provider or your school nurse.

Sincerely,

Marie Wiles, Ph.D.
Superintendent
