Districtwide safety plan updated to include cardiac emergency response; 30-day comment period open

At the Aug. 12 Board of Education meeting, the 2025-26 Project S.A.V.E. Plan (also known as the Districtwide School Safety Plan, or DWSSP) was officially approved.

Following the recent signing of Desha’s Law, which mandates all school districts to establish a Cardiac Emergency Response Plan (CERP), an update has been made to our existing safety plan. This update is now included as:

Part 10: Cardiac Emergency Response Plan description, located on page 44 of the full S.A.V.E. Plan.

This “cardiac insert” outlines the district’s protocols and preparedness for responding to cardiac-related emergencies, ensuring compliance with the new state requirement.

The plan is again posted to the website for a 30-day comment period and will be placed on the Oct. 2025 board agenda for approval.
