Guilderland Central School District is proud to announce that eight students have been recognized by the New York State Band Directors Association (NYSBDA) for their exceptional musical abilities and will perform in the association’s honor ensembles. Each ensemble will rehearse and perform during the NYSDA’s annual Symposium in Syracuse in March 2023.

Hundreds of students throughout New York State apply to be a part of these prestigious honor ensembles every year and NYSBDA selects students based upon their NYSSMA score from the previous spring.

Guilderland students chosen to perform in the High School Honor Band are Karsen Rittner, clarinet, and Zexi (John) Wang, clarinet. Students selected for the Middle School Honor Band include Adam Hawrylchak, euphonium, Anthony Padula, french horn, Caleb Pinder, flute, and Aaron Vitelli, trumpet. Timothy Kelly, mallets, and Austin Li, oboe, were recognized as alternates.

Selection to these esteemed ensembles demonstrates exceptional musicianship and is an outstanding accomplishment. Congratulations to the incredibly talented students recognized by NYSBDA and their teachers, Ms. Kathleen Ehlinger, Mr. John Fatuzzo, Mr. Jason Utter and Ms. Alexis Ziomek.
