The Guilderland High School Music Department is honored to announce that four student musicians have been recognized for their outstanding performances by the New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) and have been chosen to join the association’s prestigious All State Music Ensembles. Congratulations to the following students on this extraordinary accomplishment:

  • Brendon Cao (junior), Bass, Mixed Chorus
  • Raney Jin (senior), Alto, Mixed Chorus
  • Olivia Petti (senior), Oboe, Symphony Orchestra
  • Hazel Regan (senior), Alto, Mixed Chorus

Competing against thousands of student musicians from across New York State, admission to these highly selective music ensembles is based on the score students received this past spring at the NYSSMA Solo Evaluation Festival; each student performed before a certified adjudicator who thoroughly evaluated the student’s performance.

These exceptionally talented students will spend four days in Rochester starting Nov. 30 rehearsing with other NYS student musicians at the NYSSMA 2023 Winter Conference. The event will culminate with a concert at Kilbourn Hall at the Eastman School of Music on Sunday, Dec. 3.

In addition, the district congratulates GHS junior Natalie Teal for being selected as an alternate for cello.

Congratulations to all student musicians, their teachers and parents on this remarkable achievement.
