GCSD presents a learning session for families on social media intelligence and well-being

On Wednesday, Mar. 20 at 7:00 p.m. the Guilderland Central School District and PTA will co-sponsor a virtual learning session for families on digital and social media intelligence and well-being.

Led by Chris Vollum, a widely-recognized educator on social media platforms, this session will assist GCSD families in supporting their children as they deal with the stress, anxiety and well-being related to the online content children consume, create and share.

Mr. Vollum will provide a demo on the popular social media applications Discord, Instagram, Snapchat and TikTok, to equip families with the knowledge and tools to understand how their children interact online. This session will also give families the confidence to begin meaningful conversations with their children about their digital footprint.

The objective of the event is for families to gain the clarity and skills needed to knowledgeably discuss the benefits and risks of social media apps and platforms with their children. This experience will empower families to move forward in a manner that eliminates fear and uncertainty.

To register for this event, please complete and submit this linked Google form by March 15. The district will follow up prior to the event with a link to attend the meeting.

With almost 20 years of experience, Chris Vollum is an international workshop speaker who provides families with strategies to support their children and their online safety.
