GHS Weekend Backpack Program for GHS Students in Need

With a mission to alleviate child hunger during times when school meals are not available, the Guilderland High School (GHS) Backpack Program provides child-friendly, nonperishable and easy-to-prepare food over the weekend for students in need. The program is funded and supported through volunteers and community donations and runs from October to June. Students are typically referred to the program by a teacher, social worker, staff member, school counselor or parent/guardian. There is NO cost to any family to participate in the program and participation in the program is confidential. Bags are discreetly distributed to participating students every Friday afternoon.
