Introducing AI Learning Tools in Our Classrooms

An update from the GCSD Technology Department

We’re excited to share some positive news about a new tool we’re introducing to help your child learn. To prepare our students for a rapidly changing world, we are integrating a new AI-powered platform into our classrooms.

Our New AI Partner: MagicSchool AI

Our district has selected a platform called MagicSchool AI. This tool helps teachers create personalized and interactive learning experiences that make lessons more engaging and effective. The student-facing version, MagicStudent, helps your child learn about AI safely and responsibly.

We chose this platform because of its strong focus on safety and privacy. It is designed to:

  • Protect Your Child’s Privacy: MagicSchool AI is built to comply with strict privacy laws, including those that protect student data.
  • Keep Teachers in Control: Teachers supervise how students use the tool and determine its appropriate use in their classrooms.
  • Promote Responsible Use: Before using the tool, all students will complete a lesson on AI ethics to help them understand how to use technology safely and honestly.

Our Guidelines for Responsible AI Use

Our district is committed to teaching students how to use AI in a smart and ethical way. We have provided professional development for our teachers and established these key guidelines for students:

  • Think Critically: Encourage students to always question and verify information they get from AI.
  • Be Honest: Teach students to use AI to help their learning, not to do the work for them.
  • Protect Privacy: Remind them to be careful about what information they share online.
  • Be Good Digital Citizens: Promote respectful and responsible behavior when using any technology.

How You Can Help

Your partnership is essential in this journey. You can help your child by:

  • Talking with them about the importance of using AI ethically and responsibly.
  • Staying informed about the tools they are using.
  • Encouraging critical thinking and conversations about the information they encounter online.

Thank you for partnering with us as we embrace innovation and prepare our students for the future.
